Nearly 10% of 18-25 year olds will face their own depression each year!

Tragic events in the news continue to highlight the need to address mental health much earlier in the life span. Data from a recent survey, "The National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH)," the largest national survey ever conducted on sub-stance use and health, were recently reported by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). The survey found that 9.4 percent of people aged 18 to 25 or approximately 3 million young adults in the United States experienced one or more major depressive episodes in the past year. Furthermore, data from the report highlight the relationship between depression and many risky health choices made during these years.

The It's Time! staff in-service, peer education, and parent resource programs seek to impact this issue during the middle and high school years before our nation's youth leave the home and school environment.
