A Heart for our Community: Marge Hendrickson
Marge Hendrickson, a parish nurse at Ascension Lutheran and Prince of Peace Catholic churches, has been a supporter and promoter of InHealth programs for the past 7 of our 8 years. She brought the Stress, Constructing Health, Heart of a Woman, Depression and Latino Depression programs to both parishes over the years. Marge was also the inspiration for development of the "Finding Your Voice" program presented at a mother/daughter luncheon to celebrate one of Ascension’s milestone anniversaries.
Marge has had input into a number of InHealth programs through focus groups and allowing us to
pilot programs with those she serves. Marge truly exemplifies "A Heart for our Community" in all she does for the members and community that surrounds these two parishes located just south of the Domes in Milwaukee.
In Marge’s honor InHealth will present the staff in-service "It's Time! Adults Addressing Youth
Depression" to the staff at Prince of Peace School in January 2008.

Like most people, I became involved with InHealth because of personal experiences with depression. I wondered where people could go to talk comfortably about this important issue. Our mental health and attention to it is every bit as important as our physical health. I was anxious for a program that offered something new, where mental health could be discussed openly and where the stigma associated with depression could be addressed.
InHealth has provided this and so much more. It puts a face on depression; actually many faces, as people share their own experiences. No matter how many times I see this program, I am moved by the courageous, generous people who tell their stories. These video stories, as diverse as each individual, are what makes
the InHealth program special and unique.
As a facilitator, I have seen how grateful people are to have this resource. InHealth offers a welcoming, nurturing place where people make positive connections and can learn, share and benefit from others. This is a program with a heart and soul. For me, it's been an inspiring, humbling experience. It's had an impact on my life and thanks to the commitment and dedication of many, it has reached thousands of people.
